I'm assuming this is limited to Sharjah? It's hardly conducive to the tourist trade; based on sun, sand and beach activities. I'm thinking of Pandora's box too.

As long as I remember and living in the UAE, kissing has been always a 'tabu' in public as well as all other codes of conduct as per local law. So actually nothing new.
In regards to clothing, I agree to dress modest and respectful, but I will under no circumstances, give up my shorts in the desert:059:
