I already did that before, bought one for 700 that looks identical to the original FJ roof rack and ended up selling it a couple of weeks later because of the wind noise.caprihorse;26808 wrote:Are you paid by them? I saw some FJ roof rack on BMW road, for 500 + 250 for installation.
I am looking for something the covers the entire top of the FJ and can handle the weight of 2 adults, either on a mattress or a tent (a regular small carrefour type of tent, not a roof tent.)
The best options I found online were:
Gobi Stealth Rack: http://www.gobitoyota.com/FJ.htm
Baja Flat Utility Rack http://www.bajarack.com/fj-ut-rack
I found the Baja one on a blingmytruck.com, it's supposed to be an online store that sells in the UAE with free shipping, has anyone bought anything from this website?

Normally in any country in the world, roof rack is permitted for max. weight of 50 kg. The reason is safety. Imagine, at frontal accident overloaded roof rack (2 adults, 180 kg, mattress, tent, and some stuff, 10 kg), will fly (including the roof) like a canon ball and killing everything on its way.siwady;26810 wrote:I already did that before, bought one for 700 that looks identical to the original FJ roof rack and ended up selling it a couple of weeks later because of the wind noise.

The noise will be there always, even if you would have a million value rack.
I'm sure, you don't want to use your rack as per attached image.

I'm only gonna put the weight of 2 adults and some gear when the car is idle for camping purposes, not while driving :)
Any idea where I can get the options I mentioned earlier?
Cheers!

Anyone that have this rack? Or know where I can get it without order online.

I don't really want a roof rack, so maybe this could be a good solution when we go camping. 2 adults and 2 kids in a FJ don't leave much space for camping gear....

Blingmytruck.com is Dubai based and you don't need to order online. Call them up and they shall deliver to your doorstep if required.FJ-Viking;29368 wrote:Anyone that have this rack? Or know where I can get it without order online.
