2 convoys, one lead by Shamsi and supported by Rashid whereas I was assigned to the convoy lead by Barish, the organizing Marshall, and supported by Solmaz.
Low difficulty drive/track for the new members to get used to some basic concepts, mainly distance between cars and radio communication.
I must admit I was well impressed, the initial glitches were corrected very very quickly with the convoy moving nicely and without any major issues. Only one recovery at the end that Marco took care of.
Just as a reminder:
- Distance, not too little and not too much, in some instances too much distance was being left (it got corrected) which, once the terrain gets more difficult, might become an issue as you could lose the reference point of the car in front of you.
- Radio communication. You will not always have a passenger with you, so radio communication should be handled by the driver, it is important that you get used to managing the radio at the same time as you drive.
Great group of drivers with good potential, some cars will find the limit before the drivers do ... I encourage them to keep in joining the next drives that will increase the level and will start challeging them and working on some other aspects of offroading.
Thank you Barish for organazing the drive, Shamsi, Rashid and Solmaz for the Marshalls support so 2 convoys could be made and to the rest of the support Team that attended.
See you on the sand soon!!!

Hi all,
There were 2 convoys I have joined the convoy lead by alshamsi_m, and I was the second lead with Rashid and Ehab support.
With my car I am always positioned second or third car in the convoy. Even though it is not the first time to be the second lead. However, I am still not used to the feeling it gives me the chills to take the responsibility of second lead as newbie with 5 drives.
I think the radio communication this time was much better. Distance between the cars was good, the members maintained good distance most of the time.
The difficulty of the route was easy, with easy obstacles. I had a 2 second tries, the first was with the first climb, even though the hight was less than moderate, I think because I didn’t have the correct speed. I was a bit nervous due to having 3 passengers with me.
The second try, I got stuck and tried to manage by myself to release the car from the sand, my attempt succeeded.
There was a few recoveries done, took more than 10 minutes it was almost like a break of the rest of the cars.
After the recovery we continue driving till we joined Barish convoy to the exit.
The drive ended at 5:25pm. After that we enjoyed a small social gathering with Alshamsi, Barish, Rashid and the other members who stayed after the drive.
Thanks to all.
Warrior.

Out of the 2 convoys in the desert yesterday I joined the one led by @barish.
We had a very pleasant track in a bit unfriendly terrain, with plenty of grass and small bushes stealing the momentum of the convoy in places (how much has this great area changed in the last 2 years due to the rains!), also providing an extra challenge to the leading car to ensure everyone can leave the desert with their bumpers on (second part of the drive was much more smooth!).
The convoy performed well, not giving much chance to exercise recovery skills :). Overall the communication was good and disciplined, and there were no unsafe situations. A few second tries here and there - as expected with everyone on the right learning path. Only comment (echoing David) is on the distances - 20m/ 4-5 cars is optimum. Having a car in front in also sight helps judging the obstacles and helps choosing the correct speed and path.
Overall we drove for 2,5h (1:45 moving!!) and covered 28.5km.
See you in the sand!!

Yet again a extremely well organised trip by Almost 4x4.
@Barish lead a great Drive on Saturday after a informative pre drive discussion reiterating the do's and don'ts when it comes to offroad driving.
From the back of the convoy I had a great vantage point to see how well our convoy was driving with very few sticks, that is all down to the great Lines Barish chose one the day.
Very much looking forward to the next one.
Thanks to everyone who was involved.

Hello Everyone
We had a very easy drive to practice going up the dune with small size and then we had technical turns and twists to spice up the pass but nothing dangerous!!
Since we had two convoys in the same area, I kept driving the north side to avoid collision with the other group.
The weather was windy until sunset, and many members didn't think of the cold so many had to leave but the remaining enjoyed the 3 hrs. of chitchat with hot drinks
Thanks to our marshals who joined us and for our heroes @kuba & @warrior12 for bringing wood for the campfire!!
Looking forward to seeing you soon
Cheers
Shamsi

I was in the convoy led by @Shamsi, with the ladies at the front (car no 3, behind Warrior). Easy drive with one uphill climb where I struggled due to tyre pressure being too high (12 psi). Once deflated to 9psi, managed to get past it. Noted on the point to always report via radio once over the hill. I worry slightly in case I may not be able to follow the path of the car in front of me if it gets too far ahead and put myself in a risky situation. At the same time trying not to get too close. Couldn’t stay for the social gathering this time, but will try to do that after the next drive.
Thank you All! Very enjoyable drive

I arrived around 2:15 pm, and most of the drivers were already there. The sound of deflating tires filled the air, creating an emotional atmosphere that felt like the start of an adventure.
Everyone was ready. We began with a group meeting where @Barish gave general instructions and divided us into two groups. I was in Bu Salem's group, with him leading. Othman was in car number five, Rashed was nearby, and Ehab was our "superman" overseeing everything.
Bu Salem started with some dune cresting, dropping, and arching manoeuvres to build our confidence. Once everyone felt comfortable, he combined all these elements into a more challenging sequence involving climbing, arching, and dropping on soft sand. That's when I got stuck. I still have a fear of climbing and seeing the edge of the dune on both sides, worrying that I might roll over if I miss the angle. With the help of Rashid and Ehab, I was freed using the Viking.
We continued with medium-difficulty challenges, and finally, the two groups merged and gathered at the final spot.
Despite the windy weather, the drive was enjoyable. I believe every driver had the opportunity to enhance their skills.
Thank you, team

Hello everyone,
We have completed another piece of Almost4x4 traditional training series focusing mainly on getting used to different terrains, your cars and convoy discipline, not the drive only. We have trained on straight crests, arches, technical areas trying couple of different obstacles not to beat but to learn from our mistakes.
Now its time to experience different things in your new level and enjoy your journey in Almost4x4.
Dont forget; you can never change unless you do not improve.
See you next time.

Almost4x4 Drive Report – A Great Day in the Dunes
Today’s drive was split into two convoys—one led by @alshamsi with support from @Rashid, while I was assigned to the convoy led by @Barish, the organizing marshal, with @Solmaz providing support.
The track was designed with a low difficulty level, ideal for new members to familiarize themselves with essential off-roading concepts, such as maintaining proper distance between cars and effective radio communication.
Along the way, we encountered a few recoveries, some taking over 10 minutes—which felt like a well-timed break for the rest of the convoy to catch their breath and soak in the experience.
We wrapped up the drive at 5:20 PM, followed by a relaxing social gathering with @Alshamsi, @Barish, @Rashid @kuba and other members who stayed behind to enjoy the stunning sunset.
A huge thank you to @Barish for organizing the drive, and to @alshamsi, @Rashid, and @Solmaz for their marshal support, ensuring we could run two convoys smoothly. Also, a shoutout to the rest of the support team for making this an enjoyable and safe experience.
See you on the sand soon!
